What happens after completion? Property registration explained
Completion may feel like the final step in a property transaction, but there is still an important stage that follows – registering the property with Land Registry.
After completion, our conveyancers will:
Submit the SDLT return to HM Revenue & Customs (if applicable)
Apply to Land Registry to register the new ownership
Update the title register to show the new owner and any mortgage
Registration can take several weeks or months, depending on the application. In some cases - particularly first registrations – the process can take a year or more.
At Owen Kenny Partnership, we guide our clients through each stage of the conveyancing process, including the post-completion registration.
