How long do conveyancing transactions take (house sale or purchase)?

Our Residential Conveyancer, Diane Rowlands, says "When clients ask me how long their transaction will take I will usually say it depends on the transaction and the chain; we can go as fast as possible however we are also restricted by the slowest person or lawyer in the chain. It is, therefore, difficult to give an estimated exchange date as we will only be in a position to exchange and discuss a completion date once all parties / lawyers in the chain are ready to do so.”
