Risks of a DIY will… you get what you pay for!

There may be a temptation online to download a free Will, or prepare your own DIY Will. Lifetime Lawyers say that 99% of the time these Wills are not fit for purpose, as they have been prepared incorrectly.

Also, with many of us having what I refer to as ‘modern’ or ‘blended’ families i.e. partners living together who aren’t married or in a civil partnership, children from previous relationships, stepchildren etc., a simple Will may not be what you require with your blended family. You may require a life interest trust Will, which leaves your share of the property you co-own with your current partner to your children from your previous relationship, whilst entitling your current partner to remain within the property throughout their lifetime.
